A warm welcome to Carlops Parish Church of Scotland, nestled at the edge of the Scottish Borders since 1850.
We are an inclusive and affirming congregation. Our church welcomes everyone regardless of age, colour, culture, faith, gender, orientation or any other distinction which may be used to divide humankind.
We are a church of people, not just a building. We try to serve the whole community, not just a Sunday congregation. We welcome people irrespective of what they believe, or do not believe. We value equally our Sunday worshippers, and our Monday to Saturday supporters, with their energy, talents and kindnesses.
We hold a service every Sunday morning at 10am plus occasional evening and special services. Many services in our church are also available via Zoom. To join a service via Zoom, contact sessionclerk@carlopschurch.org.
Carlops Church and five other churches form the linkage of West Tweeddale. Carlops’ partner churches are Kirkurd & Newlands, St Andrew’s West Linton, and the three united churches of the Parishes of Upper Tweeddale: Broughton Glenholm and Kilbucho, Skirling, and Tweedsmuir. The concept of a linkage is explained here.
The minister of the six linkage churches is Rev Dr Anthony (Tony) Foley; he was inducted at a service in St Andrew’s Church West Linton on 25 October 2021.
